Pursuit | Continually Devoted
As we step into 2025, our theme is clear: Pursuit. This isn’t a passive word; it’s a call to action. Pursuit by design and biblical definition is intentional life direction, hunger, and commitment. It’s about chasing after God Himself from the heart in every aspect of our lives. This year, we are embracing a journey of deeper faith, radical love, and passionate obedience as disciples of Jesus.
Pursuing God’s Word
God’s Word is the foundation of truth and training for who we are and everything we do. In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, the Apostle Paul stated, “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” Pursuit of the Word means reading it and allowing it to transform and shape us. Scripture becomes the lens through which we see the world and the compass that guides our steps
What would it look like if we pursued God’s Word with the same passion we pursue for entertainment or success? We will grow in our understanding and love for Scripture as a church.
How are we making space for God? Pursuing His presence might look like rising early to pray, lingering longer in worship, or learning to listen for His voice in the busyness of life.
Pursuing God’s People
God’s heart beats for people. Jesus reminded us in John 13:35, “By this, all men will know that you are My disciples if you love one another.” The pursuit of God cannot be separated from loving His people. That means building relationships, seeking reconciliation, and appearing in the community even when inconvenient or challenging.
This year, we are pursuing people close to and far from God. We are creating a culture of love, hospitality, and radical belonging. Disciples pursue others because Jesus first pursued them.
Pursuing God’s Ways
Pursuing God’s ways means walking in obedience, even when it costs something. The psalmist said, “Teach me your ways, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth” (Psalm 86:11). As disciples, we pursue holiness—not out of obligation, but out of love. God’s ways offer life, peace, and freedom in a confusing world.

Pursuing God’s Presence
God’s presence is where life begins, chains are broken, and joy is found. Psalm 16:11 says, “In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.” Pursuit means prioritizing time in worship, prayer, and solitude to be near Him. It’s not about checking off spiritual boxes but cultivating an authentic relationship with God.
What Does Pursuit Look Like for You?
Pursuit is more than a theme. It’s a lifestyle of devotion where we re-prioritize our lives to seek, know, and accommodate God’s will and purpose. It’s waking up daily and choosing to chase after God with your heart, mind, and soul. Whether through studying God’s word, serving others, learning to seek the Kingdom of God first as a lifestyle, or seeking Him in devotion, God calls us to participate in this life-changing journey.
This year, let’s be people who pursue God fully. Let’s pursue His Word, pursue His people, pursue His ways, pursue His presence. In the end, we will find Him—and in Him, we will find everything we need.
