Your Kingdom Purpose in Kenya

Matthew 6:9-10

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”

Psalm 33:10-11

“The LORD foils the plans of the nations; He thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all generations.”

Prayer

We come before You with Kenya on our hearts, acknowledging the stability You have granted this nation amidst its many challenges. Lord, we see the strife as ethnic groups vie for limited resources in an environment that is fragile. We recognize the pressures of a growing population, the grip of poverty, the spread of urban slums, and the urgent need for land reform that strains the fabric of Kenyan society.

At this present moment in world history and the history, we know You have Kingdom at work and hand. May your will prevail over man’s agenda, and may your power bring to pass what you have desired for Kenya.

Prayer for National Stability and Governance in Kenya

Psalm 46:1

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”

Prayer

We pray for Your peace to reign over Kenya, for wisdom to guide its leaders, and for sustainable, righteous solutions that will benefit all Kenyans. Protect this nation from the turmoil that borders it, and fortify its people against the threats of tribalism and corruption. May Your wisdom and justice guide those who govern, that they may lead Kenya with integrity and foresight.

Micah 6:8

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

Prayer

We lift up the church in Kenya, currently facing the winds of political change and challenge. We pray against any force that would intimidate or oppress, and we ask for unity among Your people to stand against wrongdoing and to support policies that honor You. Raise up, Lord, believers who are gifted, holy, and accountable to take up positions of influence, that they may be salt and light in the nation.

prayer Discipleship and Leadership

Your Kingdom Purpose for People Who are Lost

Ephesians 4:10

“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.”

Luke 10:2

And He was saying to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

Prayer

We pray earnestly for the discipleship of believers in Kenya, that attendance at church would reflect a true commitment to You. We ask for effective discipleship that cultivate deep spiritual growth. For the institutions that train Your servants, we ask for Your provision and wisdom. May grassroots training programs flourish, equipping leaders to establish churches grounded in Your Word.

Prayer for Church Growth and Spiritual Renewal

Habakkuk 3:2

“LORD, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, LORD. Renew them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.”

Prayer

Father, we thank You for the waves of church growth and renewal that have touched Kenya. We pray for a fresh outpouring of Your Spirit to rekindle the fires of revival in the Anglican, Presbyterian, Methodist, and Pentecostal churches. Let not the past quenching by legalism and division hinder what You are doing now. May Your Spirit move powerfully among all denominations, bringing a genuine transformation that transcends mere affiliation.

Those Who Serve

Mark 9:41

“For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because of your name as followers of Christ, truly I say to you, he will not lose his reward.”

Prayer

Father, we pray for those who serve through the church in the many places seen and unseen. We thank you for their giving nature and ask that you bless and increase them. We pray they will receive grace and strength from you as they find new creativity and relationships in the church. May doors open for them in the community to expand the Kingdom through their lives.

Prayer for the Youth and Those Affected by HIV/AIDS

Matthew 19:14

Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.'”

Prayer

Lord, we bring before You the youth of Kenya, the future of the nation. Bless the ministries that reach out to them, like CEF, SU, and FOCUS. May these efforts bear fruit that lasts, raising up a generation committed to Your mission. We also intercede for those suffering from HIV/AIDS, for the orphans left behind, and for the church to be a beacon of hope and healing. May Your love and compassion be evident through the service of Your people.

Prayer for the Marginalized and the City Slum Dwellers

Proverbs 31:8-9

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”

Prayer

We pray for the many who dwell in city slums, for the street children and orphaned householders. We ask for Your hand of provision and protection over them. Empower the ministries working in these areas to minister holistically to the needs of these precious ones. May Your church be a place of refuge, transformation, and hope for the least of these.

In all these things, we trust in Your sovereign power and love, believing that You are at work in Kenya for the good of Your people and the glory of Your name.

Prayer For the UNREACHED

Your Kingdom Purpose for Our Leaders

Romans 10:14-15

“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?”

Prayer

For the pastoral and animistic peoples of the north and west, we give thanks for their increasing openness to the gospel. We pray for the Turkana, Pokot, Endo, Sabaot, Rendille, Samburu, and Daasenach. Bless the ministries of AIC/AIM, Anglicans, and many others working among them. May culturally sensitive and well-led churches flourish among these groups. We celebrate the growth of Christianity among the Maasai and ask for its continued expansion.

For the Muslim Oromo-related peoples of the northeast, including the Borana and related Njemps, as well as the Garreh-Ajuran, Orma, Malakote, and Munyoyaya, we ask for Your grace to touch their hearts. We are grateful for the Njemps who are already sending evangelists to other peoples and pray for the growth of Your church among the Borana.

For the Khoisan-related peoples, the Boni, Dahalo, and Dorobo, we pray that Your Spirit would move among these hunter-gatherer communities, drawing them to Your truth and love.

For the Mijikenda peoples of the coastal hills, we ask for Your light to shine brightly. Where beliefs are a mixture of traditional and Muslim, we pray for a clear presentation of the gospel that resonates with their cultural context. We pray especially for the Digo, Segeju, and Bajun, that those seeking to reach them would be equipped with wisdom and discernment.

For the coastal Swahili and Arab populations, we ask for breakthroughs in these strongly Muslim communities. May the Kenyan churches ministering to them be examples of Your truth, power, and love.

For the Somali, both in the northeast and in urban centers, we pray that the strife they have known would open doors to peace through the gospel. We thank You for the ministries reaching out to them, especially through holistic ministry, and ask that You would increase the number of Somali coming to know You.

For the Asian community of Muslims, Hindus, Jains, Parsees, and Sikhs, we pray for Your presence in their lives. As they navigate economic uncertainties, may they find true security in You. We ask for Your blessing on AIM, Christar, Sheepfold Ministries, and ASCKEN as they work to plant churches and reach out to these communities. Inspire the African churches to rise to the missional challenge of reaching Kenya’s Asians.

Lord, we trust in Your power to draw all people to Yourself, and we ask for Your Kingdom to come in Kenya, as it is in heaven.

In Jesus’ name, we pray,

Amen.

The Apostolic Field

Psalms 2:8

‘Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance,
And the very ends of the earth as Your possession.”

Acts 1:8

“but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”

2 Thessalonians 3:1-2

“Finally, brethren, pray for us that the word of the Lord will spread rapidly and be glorified, just as it did also with you; and that we will be rescued from perverse and evil men; for not all have faith.”

Prayer

Father, we pray that the apostolic teams in the Kenya and the nations we are connected to in the broader body of Chrsit will be protected and strengthened in body, soul, and spirit. We also pray for the Nairobi and the areas we we work with and the churches we serve to flourish and grow in people being added. We pray that the pastors receive light and grace to lead and that their families will be secure.

Resources

Malachi 3:10-12

“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,” says the LORD of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows. Then I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of the ground; nor will your vine in the field cast its grapes,” says the LORD of hosts. “All the nations will call you blessed, for you shall be a delightful land,” says the LORD of hosts.”

Prayer

Father God, we thank you for being our provider and for every good thing coming from you. We praise you for your provision for this church and ask that you send us all the resources necessary to do what you have asked of us. We thank you in advance that what you have promised you will provide in Jesus’ name.
