Your Kingdom Purpose in America

Matthew 6:9-10

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”

Psalm 33:10-11

“The LORD foils the plans of the nations; He thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all generations.”

At this present moment in world history and the history of this nation, Lord, we know You have Kingdom at work and hand. May your will prevail over man’s agenda, and may your power bring to pass what you have desired for this nation. You see beyond what we can see, and You are at work in ways beyond our comprehension. Please guide the direction of our country.

Our President, Vice President, and Executive Branch

Proverbs 21:1

“In the LORD’s hand the king’s heart is a stream of water that He channels toward all who please Him.”

Psalm 47:7-9

“For God is the King of all the earth; sing to Him a psalm of praise. God reigns over the nations; God is seated on His holy throne. The nobles of the nations assemble as the people of the God of Abraham, for the kings of the earth belong to God; He is greatly exalted.”

Psalm 72:11

“May all kings bow down to Him and all nations serve Him.”

Our God in heaven, we pray for our President. Please give him divine wisdom to lead this country. We pray that he will serve and revere You in his words and actions. We humbly ask that You grant him grace to know how to unify our country.

This nation faces immense challenges regarding public health, a pandemic, financial hardship, economic shutdowns, racial tensions, devastation from violence and riots in the streets, and significant political division, among many other things. President Biden faces fierce challenges and opportunities on the domestic and international fronts. Please grant him divine wisdom beyond his own humanity and limits to navigate our country through the uncertain path that lies ahead.

Proverbs 11:14

“For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers.”

We lift up the Vice President, cabinet, and advisors to the President. The Bible and history are full of examples of counsel to the king resulting in laws and decisions leading the entire nation toward peace and prosperity or toward division, destruction, and even collapse.

We pray that You would give the President wisdom to surround himself with counselors who have our country’s best interest at heart. Grant them wisdom to advise the President in the course of action he should take. We pray that You would surround our President with sound, wise counsel to direct him as he leads our nation.

Our Legislative Branch

1 Timothy 2:1-2

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people — for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”

We pray for the Senate and Houses of Representatives as they make laws to govern our land and delegate our nation’s resources. Grant them wisdom to allocate our resources wisely. Please raise up people who will make laws to protect our freedoms so that we can live peaceful, quiet lives in godliness and dignity.

Matthew 12:15

“Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.”

As with the general political climate throughout the nation, members of Congress are fiercely divided into tribal political parties unwilling to work together and compromise for the good of the nation. We pray against this divisiveness that plagues our land. We humbly plead that, by your miraculous power, the members of Congress would put their agendas aside to work together in humility to serve for the good of our nation as our nation’s leaders.

Our Judicial Branch

2 Chronicles 19:5-7

“He appointed judges in the land, in each of the fortified cities of Judah. He told them, ‘Consider carefully what you do, because you are not judging for mere mortals but for the LORD, who is with you whenever you give a verdict. Now let the fear of the LORD be on you. Judge carefully, for with the LORD our God there is no injustice or partiality or bribery.’”

Lord Jesus, You are the Righteous Judge who will judge the nations. We lift up our Supreme Court. We pray that they would judge rightly before you and uphold what is true. We pray for balanced judgment that upholds our Constitution. Grant them divine wisdom to decipher what is right.

Deuteronomy 1:16

“I charged your judges at that time, ‘Hear the disputes between your people and judge fairly, whether the case is between two Israelites or between an Israelite and a foreigner residing among you.’”

Deuteronomy 25:1

“When people have a dispute, they are to take it to court and the judges will decide the case, acquitting the innocent and condemning the guilty.”

We pray for the judges across our land from the local level to the high courts. Help them to judge wisely and fairly. Please give them wisdom and discernment to balance justice and mercy. Raise up righteous judges who fear You and will judge in accordance with the laws of the land. Give them wisdom during these divisive times to do what is right.

State and Local Leadership

1 Peter 2:13-14

“Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right.”

Father God, we pray for our governors and our state and local officials. Grant them grace to face their unique challenges regarding secure voting measures, political unrest, COVID restrictions, financial crisis, law enforcement, racial division, and so on. Please give them insight into the needs of their communities and discernment to make decisions to lead their states and communities well.

Prayer for Souls and Salvation

Your Kingdom Purpose for People Who are Lost

Luke 9:10

“For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

Luke 10:2

And He was saying to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

We are cry out for The Gospel of your son Jesus Christ come to those who need you. Oh God, may the power of the Holy Spirit work through those who know you and may they become laborers in the harvest. Those Bound by Addictions

1 John 2:26

“For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.”

Father, we pray for those who are bound by addictions to substances. We know that alcohol and drugs run rampant in our community and are destroying the lives of countless people. We ask that you would intervene in these men and women’s lives and deliver them through salvation. The power of hell and the demonic would be broken over their lives and families in Jesus’ name.

Prayer for Those Who are Bound by Perversion

1 Corinthians 6:18

“Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body.”

Corinthians 10:13

“No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.”

We pray for those who are under the power of sexual perversion and torment. We bind the spirit of the age that is trying to corrupt the earth through lust. Father ask that the Spirit of Holiness would come upon men and women and that they could know you and the purpose you have for their lives to live in purity and peace in Jesus name.

Those Who are Incarcerated

Luke 4:18-19

Mark 2:17

“And hearing this, Jesus *said to them, “It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Lord Jesus, You are the Righteous Judge who knows the heart’s intentions. We ask there would be a mighty outpouring of salvation and freedom for all of those who are incarcerated. We ask that they and their families be comforted and find you deeply in this season of their lives. We also ask for pathways of the Gospel to come to us at Bread of Life or that you would lead us to the places where we could preach the Gospel to those in jail and prison.

We pray for them that the discouragement and condemnation that are seeking to destroy them will be broken over them. We pray that there would be an outpouring of heaven upon them so that they would see that you have created them for a purpose and they can know you and have hope in this life. We ask for their salvation and deliverance in Jesus’ name.

Hebrews 13:17

“Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with grief, for this would be unprofitable for you.”

Lord, we thank you for the leaders you have appointed to serve us and who give their lives for the church in your Kingdom. May your Spirit and wisdom dwell in them, and your power strengthen them. We pray for their protection and safety while they look after us and teach us your word. We ask in Jesus’ name that you provide for their needs as they focus on your Word to train and equip us.

Father God, we thank you for every family in Bread of Life Chruch. May husbands and wives, fathers, mothers, grandparents, children, and grandchildren share a rich life in Jesus as succeeding generations are trained to serve you. Fill our church with hurting families from within our community so that they may be healed and made whole in Jesus’ name.

By keeping it according to Your word.”

Even when he is old he will not depart from it.”

Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.
How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them;
They will not be ashamed
When they speak with their enemies in the gate.

Father God, we pray for the young people who are children, teenagers, and college-age in this region.

Father God, we thank you for being our provider and for every good thing coming from you. We praise you for your provision for this church and ask that you send us all the resources necessary to do what you have asked of us. We thank you in advance that what you have promised you will provide in Jesus’ name.
