Possessing the gates
We must possess the gate of our enemies as promised to Abraham in Gen. 22:17.
Unlike Abraham’s time, however, these gates are not as perceptible or as clearly defined.
Godly wisdom informs us of the enemy gates we are up. Some of them are: Government, Media, Education, Economy, Religion, Arts and Entertainment, and Family/Homestead.
The side of a gate one stands upon determines their fate.
Rehab in Joshua 2:19 “And it shall be, that whoever shall go out of the doors of thy house into the street, his blood shall be upon his head, and we will be guiltless: and whoever shall be with thee in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand be upon him.”
Jesus in the book of John:
John 10:9 “I am the door if by me any man shall enter he shall be saved”

The Gazites wanted to capture Samson by possessing the gate which he was bound to pass through when leaving the city. Samson overcame them by taking possession of the gate where they lay in wait.
Judges 16:2-3 “The people of Gaza were told, “Samson is here!” So they surrounded the place and lay in wait for him all night at the city gate. They made no move during the night, saying, “At dawn we’ll kill him.” But Samson lay there only until the middle of the night. Then he got up and took hold of the doors of the city gate, together with the two posts, and tore them loose, bar and all. He lifted them to his shoulders and carried them to the top of the hill that faces Hebron.”
The Bible decreed the blessing that the children of Israel should possess the gates of their enemies
Genesis 22:17 “I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies”
If the enemy controls or possesses the gate of our lives, whatever moves in or out of our life and home is with enemy’s knowledge. We need to close the gates so that no weapon formed against us will prosper.
More New Testament gates
Acts 16:26 “And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed."
Jesus said in John 10:9 “I am the door if by me any man shall enter he shall be saved”
If we are within the walls of His city then the enemy cannot gain access.
Possess the gate of your enemy!
